Clear the Noise🧠✍️

A Message from Susan:

Our brain is not a storage unit and sometimes we need to clear out the noise. Journaling, also called a brain dump, is having a big moment. So why does it work and what is the best way to begin or improve a practice? Claudia, a Mental Writing Coach in Austria, shares her perspective and tips. Seems it is having a big moment in Europe as well 😊

What we have for you this week:

1. Why does a brain dump work?

2. What is journaling?

3. Tips and techniques that help clear the noise

4. Stay in the present with Alan Watts

The Brain Dump 🧠

Brain dumps work because your brain is a processing center. When you try to hold every thought, worry, reminder, and half-formed idea at once, your mind stays stuck in open tabs mode, draining energy and adding stress. A brain dump is the mental equivalent of hitting save and close as your nervous system relaxes, your mind stops looping, and clarity returns. By unloading the noise, you free up bandwidth for focus, creativity, and better decisions. Sometimes the smartest thing you can do is get everything out of your head and onto the page.

What is Journaling? ✍️

Claudia, you provide unique writing and journaling classes to improve mental health. Why is this so effective?

Writing is a powerful way to regulate the mind and reconnect with yourself. In my workshops, people respond strongly to having a space without pressure or perfection. A space where they can be honest, unfinished, and simply present with what’s there. Writing works like a key, unlocking memories, emotions, and inner narratives that often stay out of reach in everyday thinking. What surprises many is that clarity, insight, and even solutions tend to emerge on their own through the process. Regular writing helps quiet mental noise, loosen stuck thought patterns, and strengthen a more authentic inner voice. A shift that feels grounding, freeing, and deeply supportive.

Brain Dumping is becoming quite popular, can you give us a few tips?

Brain dumping works best when you give your mind permission to unload without direction. Set a short timer, keep your hand moving, and write whatever shows up. Worries, to-do lists, looping thoughts, half-ideas, even nonsense. No organizing or judging. Expect inner resistance, those sneaky censor voices often appear early. Instead of fighting them, gently work around them. Park the inner editor, write it down, answer it briefly, and keep going. The most important rule is simple, just stay kind with yourself. When judgment drops, mental clutter releases, tension softens, and clarity often emerges on its own.
